More options and less floor space with intelligent layout and more usable living and working space
For urban planning implementation, we chose the example of a heterogeneous quarter in Lucerne with an ideal infrastructure. Our development plans four different buildings that are networked with each other, while also remaining in contact with neighbouring buildings.
Our project has three types of rooms, each with different uses. my room has the greatest intimacy and is used privately by one person. our room is the kitchen and dining area, which can be used by two to five other people depending on the situation. your room is the most public part of our project – since everyone is able to rent it according to his/her requirements. That creates added value such as efficient use of space, social synergies, flexible use potential and low overall rent costs. The three different room types are connected by space+, which serves as a lively, communicative connecting element with a wide range of use potential.
From that urban planning context, we chose an example of each room type, developed our prototype for the competition in Versailles and connected the rooms to the space+ unit.
So we generate a prototype, with which we present our concept at the Solar Decathlon Europe 2014 in Versailles.
